Non preparo ogni set meticolosamente. Sarebbe uno spreco di tempo ed è impossibile preparare tutto alla perfezione quando non sai cosa succederà. Preferisco avere una struttura live che mi permetta d’improvvisare e adattarmi ad ogni situazione.
Ti informi mai su dove suonerai, sul tipo di pubblico e di cosa tira in quel determinato club?
Di sicuro mi piace sapere dove suonerò. Almeno avere le informazioni di base. Visto che suono dal vivo non posso cambiare il mio stile di molto (anche se credo di abbracciare un range di stili musicali abbastanza ampio)… ma posso provare ad andarci più piano o magari un po più pesante a seconda della situazione.
Ti soffermi mai sul dj che apre la serata o preferisci entrare ed imporre il tuo sound?
Mi piace suonare per creare una bella situazione e fare serata divertente. Quindi cercherò di sicuro di fare una transazione abbastanza easy dal dj che suona prima di me. Fino ad un certo punto! In alcune situazioni è possibile che senta la necessità di un cambiamento.
Ti capita mai di pensare “voglio assolutamente suonare questo disco stasera”?
Sì certo…se ho una traccia appena finita, o mi è stato spedito il master di una traccia cercherò d’infilarla in mezzo da qualche parte per sentirne il risultato.
Quando suoni dal vivo hai paura di sbagliare o sei sempre sicuro della tua performance?
Quando suono io COMMETTO errori…
Come ti comporti con i promoter e il pubblico, preferisci interagire con tutti o vuoi il tuo spazio?
Quindi fondamentalmente la domanda è se sono uno stronzo o no. Cerco di non esserlo. Credo che sia questo che rende le performance live interessanti. Quindi sì…quanta più interazione possible. Di solito sono molto occupato sul palco.

I don’t plan every set meticulously. It would be too time consuming and it’s impossibile to plan perfectly when you don’t know what’s ahead. I prefer to create a live structure that allows me to improvise and try to adapt to each and every situation.
Do you need information about the place you will play, the type of audience and what pulls in that particular club?
I usually like to know where I’m going to play for sure. At least get the basic informations. Since I play live I can’t change the style of music I am playing (thought I think there is an acceptable range of music I can play) so much… but I can try to play smoother or I can try to pus hit a little more depending on the situation.
Do you ever dwell on the DJ who opened the evening or would you rather go in and impose your sound?
I like to play for the benefit of the night or of the party. So of course I’ll will try to make an easy transition with what the dj (or live act) is playing before. To a certain extent! In some situations, it’s possible I’ll feel a change is necessary.
Do you ever think “I definitely want to play this music tonight!”?
Yes of course… if I just finished a song, or if I just received a master of another one I’ll try to sqeeze it in at some point to hear the result.
When you play, are you afraid of making a mistake or you’re always sure of your performance?
When I play I MAKE mistakes…
What do you do with the promoters and the public, do you prefer to interact with all or you just want your space?
So basically “am I a douche bag” or not. I try not to be. I like interaction. I think that’s what makes live performance interesting. So yeah… as much interaction as I can handle. I usually am quite busy on stage.
