Luvless è un musicista tedesco di grandissimo talento che se anche sia ancora fresco, deve assolutamente essere tenuto d’occhio. Con un personale stile in cui si mischiano house, techno e r’n’b, ha appena pubblicato l’ottimo “Turning Points” per la Rose Records. L’abbiamo intervistato per chiarere insieme a lui alcuni punti.
Ciao Luvless, hai voglia di presentarti ai lettori di Soundwall?
Mi chiamo Ronny, vengo da Lipsia e ho 32 anni e oltre a fare musica lavoro in una fabbrica di automobili.
Come descriveresti il tuo suono? A me suona molto personale e come un mix riuscito tra house e r’n’b, con influenze soul e disco. Hai qualche nome in particolare che ti ispira?
Francamente, non so come descrivere la mia musica, ma credo che la cosa più importante sia dire che faccio musica che mi tocca dal primo momento, da subito. Non penso mai se possa funzionare in pista o non mi capita mai di pensare se agli altri possa piacere o meno. Facci ciò che voglio, quello che mi piace: per cui possono essere edit come nel cao della nuova uscita su Razor’N’Tape o roba più dritta come le varie uscire su Rose Records. Non vivo alcuna pressione nel fare musica, lo faccio quando e come voglio e questa è per me è libertà. Chiaramente vengo influenzato da dove vivo e dal contesto, dalle esperienze e dalla musica altrui. La nascita di mia figlia ha sicuramente avuto impatto nel nuovo EP “Turning Points” uscito per Rose Records. L’ho dedicato a lei. Mi piacciono diversi stili, soul, house, disco, ma anche la techno, soprattutto i classici della techno, ma preferisco tenerli per casa, al club preferisco andare più morbido e tranquillo, mi piace che ci sia qualcosa che mi ‘tocchi il cuore’ in un brano, qualcosa che può essere un violino o dei vocals giusti, o anche solo un bel basso azzeccato. Adoro i bassi, sono qualcosa nella dance music che ti fanno sorridere e ballare allo stesso tempo, e per quanto concerne la mia di musica, vorrei riuscire a creare esattamente questo mix di puro amore. So che suona come un cliché, ma è esattamente così!
Tu esci per Rose Records, ce ne vuoi parlare?
La Rose Records nasce quando io, Lars, Eva, Martin e Rico nel 2011 ci siamo messi a produrre vinili. Conosco M.ono (che sarebbe il nome artistico di Rico) da un paio di anni, così come Lars ed Eva, mentre ho conosciuto Martin quando pubblicavamo su Mancha Recording molto tempo fa. L’etichetta, questa Rose, è un’idea che avevamo in passato, ma poi ci siamo decisi a farla anche perché le condizioni erano di fatto favorevoli, perché avevamo una pressa per vinili qui a Lipsia e conoscevamo qualcuno che poteva masterizzare i nostri brani, in più M.ono è un ottimo grafico, per cui eravamo pronti a buttarci anima e sangue in questo progetto. La prima uscita è stata la Variuos One, in vinile e con brani miei, di Martin e di M.ono, grazie alla quale abbiamo ricevuto ottimi consensi sia da amici che da gente da altri paesi. Musicisti ed artisti che amiamo hanno dimostrato il loro consenso, gente come Sleasy Beats i quali ci hanno incoraggiato dal primo momento, la Kolour Recording, Razor’N’Tape, Move D, Bicep, Ali Ooft e tutta la crew di Lipsia come Kann Crew, Filburt e i nostri amici francesi Lazare Hoce.
Vivi a Berlino o continui a stare a Lipsia? Credi che la tua musica risenta del contesto in cui vivi?
Vivo a Lipsia, città che penso sia perfetta per me. Mi piace perché è bella e non è troppo grande, tanto che la giri in bici tranquillamente. In effetti sembra più un grande villaggio più che una città; inoltre ho tutti gli amici in zona e per beccarli non devo guidare. Mi piace molto come situazione.
Quali sono i progetti futuri tuoi e della Rose Records?
Allora, facendo il punto della situazione, con la Rose abbiamo quattro uscite all’attivo, dopo le tre compilation con nostri pezzi chiamate “various” ci siamo messi a pubblicare i nostri singoli EP. Il primo è stato quello di M.ono chiamato “Easydance EP”, il quale tra l’altro è ancora richiestissimo, e che abbiamo intenzione di ripubblicare perché la richiesta è molto alta. Come ho detto prima, il mio “Turning Points” (che sarebbe l’uscita numero 5 dell’etichetta) è ora nei negozi, infine l’uscita di Martin dovrebbe arrivare presto. Abbiamo intenzione di pubblicare una nuova serie con brani di altri artisti dal programmatico nome di “Rose & Friends”.

Luvless -whose real name is Ronny, is a fresh and cool german producer with a stunning talent. Even though he has appeared recently in the music business, he is establishing himself thanks to his particular sound made by a clever mix of house, techno and r’n’b. We met him for a breif chat about his life and his music.
Hi Luvless, can you tell us who are you, where are you from. Introduce yourself please.
I’m Ronny and I’m from Leipzig and I’m 32 years old. Besides making music I have a job in an automobile manufactury.
How would you describe your sound? It seems like a mix between house and r’n’b, soul and disco, have you got any big influences?
I don´t know how to describe the sound I’m doing, but I think the most important thing is that it touches me in the first line without thinkin’ of how it’s gonna work on the dancefloor or what others may think of it or anything like that. I do what I like to do, so it can be a more edit based project like the new ones on Razor’N’Tape recently released, or more punchy stuff like on the rose various releases; I have no pressure to make music. I do when I like to do, that’s my freedom. It depends on my mood and my environment, experiences I made the last time, the birth of my little daughter builded the major impact to the new Rose EP called turning points. It’s dedicated to her. I like different genres like soul, disco, house and also techno. I still own many old classic techno records to listen to at home but for the club I like it more slow and smooth. Something that touches my heart. This can be a chord or some lovely vocals or just a warm sounding bass. I love bass. something that makes you smile and dance. For my own music I want to create this kind of feeling. That’s actually what keeps me going. Just the love. Sound like a cliché but it’s just like that!
You are out on Rose Records, would you like to talk about this label? There are artists you would like to work with?
Rose records are Lars, Martin, Eva, Rico and myself. We started rose records in mid 2011 and we are releasing vinyl only. I know M.ono (Rico) since a couple of years as well as Lars and Eva and I got to know Martin since M.ono, me and him had released tracks on a Mancha Recordings in the early beginning Rose was just an idea back in the days but then we went serious. The preconditions were good as we have a pressing plant in Leipzig, we know someone who mastered our tracks, M.ono is very good in graphic related things and we all were ready to put our sweat and blood into this project. We started with the “various one” vinyl which featured tracks by Martin, M.ono and myself. the feedback we got from our friends, other people from our city and from abroad was amazing. Artists we love and appreciated gave us props for the record. We have to name our friends from sleazy beats who supported us from day one, Kolour Recordings, Razor’N’Tape, Move D, Bicep, Ali Ooft and our friends from Leipzig like The Kann Crew, Filburt and our french brothers of Lazare Hoche.
Do you live in Berlin or where? Are you influenced by the inviroment you are living in or by other german artists?
I actually live in Leipzig and I think it’s the perfect city for me in person. I like it’s beauty and that it’s not to big. You can go by bike everywhere. It seems a bit like a small village at all. My friends are all in range and it’s easy to meet up without driving half an hour to a huge busy city. I like that.
Other project for the future?
Since we started we released four records. after the three “various” ones we started our artist EP’s with M.ono’s “Easydance EP” which is still in high demand. By now we are thinking of a little reissue of this one because there are so many people asking us and it wasn’t declared as a limited press at all. As i mentioned, Rose 05 “Turning Points” which is my EP, is out now and should be available in the shops very soon and then we have Martin’s on the schedule. We also plan to release music from other artists and we gonna call it “Rose & Friends”.
