Quale è il tuo rapporto con Amesterdam?
Amsterdam ed io siamo sposati da circa 30 anni, abbiamo 4 figli (2 maschi e 2 femmine), un cane, tre gatti e un pappagallo chiamato William. Ci piace fare lunghe passeggiate sulla spiaggia, soprattutto d’inverno e abbiamo lunghi e profondi colloqui sugli hobby e sulla vita. Non sto scherzando, questo è un quadro più che romantico. Il mio rapporto con Amsterdam è che io sono nato qui, vivo qui e faccio la mia musica qui 🙂
Da dove trai ispirazione nella città in cui vivi?
Da quasi tutto quello che succede da un buon panino alla house oldschool di Chicago, dalla birra al sapore dello yogurt alla fragola, da sinistra a destra, da… qualsiasi cosa. Ascolto molta musica e quasi tutto ciò che ascolto mi può ispirare.
Quale è il tuo dj preferito? Perché?
Non credo di avere un DJ preferito. A causa dei miei molteplici interessi, è difficile dire di avere un dj preferito di tutti i tempi. Al momento mi piacciono molti dj’s ma questa per me è una cosa in continua evoluzione. Ora può piacermene uno ma può succedere che tra 6 mesi non mi piace più. Il gusto è sempre in evoluzione e, talvolta, i DJ’s non si evolvono nello stesso ritmo.
Ti preferisci come produttore o in consolle?
Mmmm, per me, sia fare musica che suonare dal vivo o come dj sono parte di ciò che sono come artista. Non li vedo come due cose separate.
Progetti per il futuro?
Mi piacerebbe continuare come sto facendo ora. Avviare forse alcune interessanti collaborazioni con altri artisti? Ho passato un bel pò di tempo a fare musica insieme con il mio amico Tom Ruijg. Abbiamo anche suonato insieme live, l’estate scorsa. Credo che la cosa migliore sia portare il live ad un livello successivo. Inoltre sto cercando di esplorare le mie capacità di produzione in altri generi di musica dance invece che rimanere solamente fermo sull’ house.
C’è qualcosa che vuoi far sapere di te? Qualcosa che non ti è stata ancora domandata ma che non vedi l’ora di dire?
Andate a scuola e dite no alle droghe!!!

What is your relationship with Amsterdam?
Amsterdam and I have been married already for about 30 years and we have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) a dog, 3 cats and a parrot called William. We like to take long walks on the beach, especially in wintertime and having long and deep talks about hobbies and life. No just kiddin’ that’s an overromantic picture. My relationship with Amsterdam is that I was born here, I live here and I make my music here :).
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
From almost everything going from a nice sandwich to oldschool Chicago house, from beer to strawberry flavoured disco yoghurt, from left to right, from…. anything. I have a broad taste in music and almost everything I listen to can inspire me. Wether it’s a nice Hi-Hat or just the general atmosphere in a song.
Who is your favorite dj, and why?
I don’t think I have a favorite DJ. Because of my wide interests it is difficult to say oh Yes that is my alltime favorite DJ. I like a lot of DJ’s at the moment but for me that is a constantly changing thing. I can like one now but maybe in 6 months I won’t like him (or here) anymore. Taste is always evolving and sometimes DJ’s won’t evolve in the same pace.
Do you prefer being a producer or behind the console?
Mmmm, for me both making music and playing live or as a DJ are part of what I am as an artist. I don’t see them as two separate things.
What are your plans at the moment?
I would like to continue as I am doing now. Maybe start some interesting collaborations with other artists? I spent quite a lot of time making music together with my good friend Tom Ruijg. We also played a liveset together last summer. I think it will be good to take this to a next level. Furthermore I am trying to explore my production skills in other genres of dance music then just house.
Is there something you want to tell and not have been asked before but can not wait to tell?
Stay in school and say no to drugs 😉
